About thema
thema
was founded in 1995 and brings ”hidden musical treasures
from the North” to the renewed attention of all music lovers. thema
makes CDs with a distinct artistic profile and records unknown, forgotten
or otherwise neglected music that deserves a better destiny.
We have three areas of priority in selecting the programme:
- Nordic music
- Hidden musical treasures from the North
- "Educational” music / music for children – works of a high artistic standard suited for teaching, entertainment and participation.
thema has made a great number of world premiere recordings, and the booklets include informative essays about the composers and the works.
thema also has the function of management for the pianist Øyvind Aase.

The Hurum Collection
With
this CD series thema has wanted to present Alf Hurum`s music to a wider audience.
The Hurum Collection is a documentation of the composer Hurum – his
life and music – and points out his versatility. The series uses Alf
Hurum`s own paintings from his Hawaii period for the covers. The Hurum biographer
Rune J. Andersen has written informative essays in the booklets and all information
is available in Norwegian and English.
- Vol I – complete works for violin and piano
- Vol II – most of the piano works (2CD)
- Vol III - complete songs with piano (released in March 2003)
